Dealer and Auction Auto Transport

Dealer trades, auction purchases, wholesale units and customer deliveries all have one thing in common: the vehicle is sitting somewhere it should not be, costing money every day. Super Auto Transport arranges carrier capacity for dealerships, independent lots, wholesalers and remarketing companies, with the gate passes, release contacts and pickup windows handled before the driver rolls in.

Auction pickups: what we need from you

Auctions run on their own rules. Carriers are checked in at a gate, must present a release for each unit, and are often limited to specific hours. Send us the following as soon as you have it:

  1. Auction name and physical location (some auctions have multiple yards).
  2. Lot, stock or VIN for each unit.
  3. Buyer number and the name the release is issued to.
  4. Gate pass or release document, or confirmation that it will be ready at the gate.
  5. Date the unit becomes available and the date storage fees begin.
  6. Whether the unit runs, rolls and steers. Auction descriptions are not always accurate.

Non-running units require a winch-equipped carrier and are priced accordingly. Our inoperable vehicle shipping page explains the difference between a car that rolls and one that does not.

Dealer-to-dealer and lot-to-lot moves

Dealer trades are usually simpler than auction pickups but still fail for predictable reasons: the driver arrives after the lot closes, nobody on site knows about the pickup, or the keys are locked in the sales office. We confirm a release contact, the hours the lot is staffed and where the keys will be before dispatch. The driver completes a condition report on the Bill of Lading with your staff at both ends, which is the document you will need if there is ever a damage question between stores.

Multiple units and recurring lanes

When several units move between the same two points, we try to place them on one carrier. It is not always possible, since the carrier has to have the right number of free positions on that day, but on common lanes it often is. For businesses with repeat volume we assign a single point of contact; you send unit details by email, we quote each one, and you approve by reply. Every shipment is still a separate quote because carrier rates move with lane and season. See multiple vehicle shipping for how multi-unit pricing works.

Why dealers use a broker rather than one carrier

A single carrier has a fixed number of trucks on a fixed set of routes. A broker like Super Auto Transport works with a network of vetted carriers, so a unit in Georgia headed to Arizona and a unit in Oregon headed to Texas can both be covered the same week without you calling around. We are a licensed, bonded broker (MC 1558624, USDOT 4091281); we verify each carrier’s authority and cargo insurance before assignment and stay on the shipment until it is signed for. The division of responsibility is spelled out in broker vs carrier explained.

Delivering sold vehicles to customers

If you sell to out-of-area buyers, we can deliver directly to the customer. The customer becomes the delivery contact, inspects the vehicle with the driver and signs the Bill of Lading. Many dealers send their customers to our guide for buyers taking delivery of a car bought online so they know what to expect.

Payment and documentation

We accept major credit and debit cards, Zelle and ACH, with the payment terms set out in the booking confirmation. Each shipment produces a booking confirmation, an invoice and a signed Bill of Lading, which is normally everything an accounting department needs.

Frequently asked questions

Can you pick up from an auction after I win a vehicle?

Yes. We need the auction name and location, the lot or stock number, the buyer number, the gate pass or release details, and the date the vehicle is available. Most auctions charge storage after a set number of days, so send us the details as soon as payment clears.

Who signs the release at a dealership?

Whoever the dealer designates, usually a lot attendant or sales manager. We confirm the contact name and hours with you so the driver is not turned away at a closed gate.

Do you move multiple units on one truck?

When the pickup and delivery points line up, yes. Several units on the same lane can often ride on one carrier, which simplifies scheduling. Units going to different destinations are dispatched separately.

Can a business set up recurring shipments?

Yes. Dealers, wholesalers and remarketers with regular lanes can work with one contact on our team and send new units by email as they come up. Each shipment is still quoted individually because carrier rates change by lane and season.

What paperwork does the driver bring?

The driver completes a Bill of Lading with a condition report at pickup and delivery. For auction pickups the driver presents the gate pass or release you provide. Keep copies of both for your records and for any damage claim.
