California Car Shipping To and From CA
California is both where Super Auto Transport is based and one of the busiest auto transport markets in the country. Vehicles flow out of Los Angeles, the Bay Area, San Diego and Sacramento to every state, and back in from the East Coast, Texas and the Pacific Northwest every week. This page covers the lanes we see most, what city access looks like in practice, and what moves the price on California routes.

A California-based broker with a national network
Ship Hauls, Inc, doing business as Super Auto Transport, operates from Glendale in Los Angeles County under MC 1558624 and USDOT 4091281. As a broker we do not own trucks; we match each shipment with a vetted, insured carrier from a nationwide network. Being based in Southern California means a large share of what we dispatch starts or ends in the state, and our team knows the practical realities of loading cars in Los Angeles traffic, Bay Area hills and Central Valley heat.
Lanes in and out of California
California to the East Coast
Los Angeles, Orange County and the Bay Area to New York, New Jersey, Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas are among the highest-volume long-distance lanes in the country. Carriers run them constantly, which keeps pricing competitive and pickup windows short on both ends. Transit after pickup is typically around a week. Our cross-country guide covers these routes in depth.
California to Texas, Arizona and Nevada
Shorter, heavily traveled corridors along I-10, I-40 and I-15. Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston and Austin are common destinations for relocations and vehicle purchases. Transit is usually a few days.
California to the Pacific Northwest
I-5 to Portland and Seattle is a steady lane in both directions, and Seattle and Tacoma are also the departure ports for Alaska car shipping.
Within California
Los Angeles to San Francisco, San Diego to Sacramento and similar in-state moves are typically a one- or two-day transit once the car is picked up. Students, military families at the state’s many installations and people relocating for work make up most of this traffic.
California to Hawaii
Southern California ports are the main gateway for vehicles sailing to Honolulu and the neighbor islands. The process and the strict port preparation rules are on our Hawaii car shipping page.
City access: what door-to-door means in California
A loaded car carrier is long, tall and heavy. Many California addresses cannot take one: San Francisco hills, Los Angeles canyon roads, narrow beach-town streets, gated communities, apartment complexes and anywhere with posted truck restrictions. The driver will call and arrange a nearby meeting point, often a big-box store lot or a wide commercial street. It is the normal way door-to-door service works and is spelled out in our terms. Planning for it avoids the most common pickup-day frustration.
What affects the price on California routes
- Direction and season. Demand into and out of California shifts with the academic calendar, snowbird season and relocation patterns.
- Distance and lane volume. Busy interstate corridors are cheaper per mile than routes into rural or mountain areas.
- Vehicle size and condition. Trucks, lifted vehicles and non-running cars narrow the carrier pool.
- Open or enclosed. Enclosed capacity is concentrated around Southern California’s collector-car market, which helps availability for enclosed shipments starting here.
- Timing. A flexible pickup window is cheaper than a guaranteed date.
The full breakdown is in our car shipping cost guide.
Preparing a vehicle for pickup in California
- Leave about a quarter tank of fuel; summer heat and a full tank add weight and risk.
- Remove toll transponders so the carrier’s route does not bill your account.
- Keep personal items within the allowed limit and declare them when booking.
- Photograph the car in good light before the driver arrives.
- Be reachable by phone; drivers in Los Angeles traffic cannot wait long at a meeting point.

Frequently asked questions
Where is Super Auto Transport based?
Ship Hauls, Inc, doing business as Super Auto Transport, is located at 504 E Windsor Rd, Glendale, California 91205. We are a licensed, bonded auto transport broker and arrange shipments throughout the state and nationwide.
Can the truck pick up in dense neighborhoods like San Francisco or Los Angeles?
Often not at the door. Narrow hillside streets, no-truck zones and parking restrictions mean the driver will arrange a nearby meeting point such as a large retail lot. This is normal for door-to-door service in California cities and does not change the price.
How long does it take to ship a car from California to the East Coast?
Once the vehicle is on the truck, a coast-to-coast run is usually around a week, with carrier assignment of one to five business days before that. Routes to Texas, Arizona and the Pacific Northwest are shorter.
Do you ship from California to Hawaii?
Yes. California ports are the main departure points for Hawaii vehicle shipping. The vehicle is trucked to the port, sails by roll-on roll-off vessel or container and is released at the Hawaii terminal. See our Hawaii car shipping page.
Does California have special rules for vehicles arriving from other states?
Transport itself has no special requirement, but registering an out-of-state vehicle in California involves emissions and inspection rules that are your responsibility after delivery. Check the California DMV requirements for your vehicle before you ship.
