⛵ Boat & Yacht Shipping – How It Works
Step 1: Initial Consultation & Quote Request
Shipping a boat or yacht requires precise planning and coordination. We start by gathering the following details:
- Boat Information: Make, model, length, width (beam), height, weight, and type (powerboat, sailboat, etc.)
- Pickup & Delivery Locations: Whether it’s a marina, storage yard, or private dock
- Transport Type: Overland haul (flatbed), cradle-based move, or international via RoRo
- Boat Condition: On trailer, on stands, or needs lifting (crane)
Once we have this info, we provide a detailed quote, including transport, insurance, permits, and handling equipment.
Step 2: Contract & Booking
If you’re happy with the quote, we finalize:
- Route details and pickup timeline
- Permit requirements (for over-dimensional loads)
- Lift/cradle services if needed
We connect you with a licensed marine carrier familiar with oversize hauling, marina access, and coast guard compliance.
Step 3: Carrier Assignment
We choose a specialized marine carrier based on:
- Vessel dimensions and any bridge clearance restrictions
- Equipment match (hydraulic trailers, adjustable cradles)
- Permit handling capabilities
Once confirmed, we provide all carrier details and coordinate direct communication.
Step 4: Boat Pickup & Preparation
Before transport:
- You or marina staff secure all loose gear
- Drain fuel/water tanks, disconnect batteries
- Remove radar arches, canvas, sails, or tall structures
- Optional: Apply shrink wrap for long-distance protection
At pickup, the boat is lifted (if needed), cradled, or trailered, then secured for transport.
Step 5: In-Transit Monitoring
We monitor progress, including:
- Route and traffic updates
- Road condition reports
- Weather-related delays or port updates
You’ll receive ongoing communication from our dispatch team until delivery.
Step 6: Boat Delivery
At drop-off:
- The boat is offloaded and inspected for transport damage
- A final condition report is signed
- You can assign a marina manager or representative to receive the delivery if you’re unavailable
