Reliable Car Shipping Services Across the U.S.
🚗 Vehicle Shipping – How It Works
At Ship Hauls, we simplify the vehicle shipping process, making it smooth, transparent, and stress-free for you. Whether you’re shipping a luxury car, a fleet of vehicles, or just your everyday ride, we guide you through every step, ensuring your vehicle reaches its destination safely and on time.
Let’s break down how car shipping works, including how we, as a vehicle broker, connect you with trusted carriers to ensure your vehicle is shipped efficiently.
Step 1: Initial Consultation & Quote Request
The process begins when you contact us for a car shipping quote. Whether you’re moving across the state or to a completely different part of the country, we need a few key details to get started:
- Vehicle Information: Make , model and year of the vehicle, condition (operable or not), and any specific shipping requirements (open trailer or enclosed shipping for luxury cars).
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Zip codes and, in some cases, more specific information to ensure the most accurate quote.
- Desired Shipping Dates: This helps us determine the best availability for carriers and avoid delays.
Once we have all the necessary information, we provide you with an instant transparent quote that includes all associated costs, including shipping fees, insurance, and any additional services. Our team of logistics experts will ensure that you understand every component of the quote—no hidden fees.
Step 2: Contract & Booking
Once you’re happy with your quote, we move on to finalizing the booking. Here’s where we sign a transportation agreement that outlines the terms, including the price, estimated pickup and delivery date range, and service type. This document ensures that all expectations are clearly communicated and legally agreed upon.
As a vehicle brokerage company, we work as intermediaries between you and the carrier. Our role is to find the best carrier for your specific needs. We have a network of licensed, insured, and trusted auto transport carriers who meet the highest industry standards.
Step 3: Carrier Assignment
Once the agreement is in place, we assign the best possible carrier from our network to transport your vehicle. We consider multiple factors when selecting the right carrier, such as:
- Route compatibility: Ensuring the carrier is going in your direction.
- Type of transport: Open or enclosed transport, depending on your vehicle’s value or specifications.
- Carrier availability: We schedule a pickup time that works best for both you and the carrier.
While we manage the communication and logistics on your behalf, you’ll receive updates as soon as a carrier is assigned to your shipment. At this stage, the carrier will contact you directly to confirm pickup details.
Step 4: Vehicle Pickup
On the estimated pickup day, the carrier will arrive at your specified location for vehicle pickup. Whether it’s your home, dealership, or a commercial lot, the carrier will inspect your vehicle with you to ensure there are no pre-existing damages. Both you and the driver will complete a condition report (BOL) noting any existing damages on the car before it is loaded onto the trailer.
The driver will load your vehicle onto the transport vehicle, whether it’s an open-air carrier or an enclosed carrier (suggested for luxury, low clearance or high-value vehicles). Once loaded, your car is safely on its way to the destination.
Step 5: Transport and En Route Updates
As a broker, we maintain constant communication with the carrier to monitor progress and resolve any potential issues. If there are any unforeseen delays or changes, we’ll keep you informed immediately. Carriers often face external factors such as weather or road conditions, so we provide you with realistic delivery windows, ensuring your expectations align with the realities of vehicle transport.
Step 6: Vehicle Delivery
Once your vehicle reaches its destination, the carrier will contact you to arrange for delivery. Upon arrival, the driver will conduct another inspection with you to confirm the car’s condition and ensure that no new damage occurred during transport.
If everything checks out, the vehicle is unloaded, and you sign the final bill of lading (BOL), completing the shipment process. If you’re not available for direct delivery, you can arrange for a trusted third party to handle the receipt.
