Door to Door Auto Transport
Door-to-door service means your vehicle is picked up from your specified address, such as a home, office or dealership, and delivered as close as possible to the drop-off address. It is the standard way Super Auto Transport arranges car shipping across the United States, and the quote you get from our calculator is a door-to-door price.
What “as close as possible” means in practice
A loaded car carrier can be over 75 feet long and 13 feet tall. Many addresses cannot take one: narrow residential streets, cul-de-sacs, steep driveways, low trees and wires, gated communities, apartment complexes and anywhere with posted truck restrictions. When direct access is not feasible, the driver calls ahead and arranges a safe nearby location, usually a large retail parking lot or a wide commercial street. Under our terms, both pickup and delivery locations must be safely and legally accessible to a semi-truck, and the customer agrees to meet the carrier nearby if they are not. The price does not change.
Why choose door-to-door transport?
- No trips to a terminal at either end, and no terminal storage fees.
- The vehicle is handled fewer times: one loading at pickup, one unloading at delivery.
- You, or someone you authorize, inspect the car with the driver at both ends.
- It works for homes, workplaces, dealerships, auctions, storage facilities and campuses.
How it works
- Get a free quote with your pickup and delivery ZIP codes, vehicle and dates on the instant calculator.
- Book, choosing open or enclosed transport and a pickup window. A carrier is typically assigned within one to five business days of your first available date.
- The driver contacts you, arrives within the window, completes the condition report on the Bill of Lading with you and loads the vehicle.
- At the destination the driver calls ahead, you inspect the vehicle, note anything new on the Bill of Lading and sign.
Timelines by distance are in our guide on how long car shipping takes, and the pickup-day checklist is in how to prepare your car for shipping.
Tips for a smooth door-to-door pickup
- Identify a large, legal parking area near each address in case the driver asks to meet there.
- Keep your phone on during the pickup and delivery windows.
- If you cannot be present, authorize someone to inspect and sign on your behalf.
- Tell us about gates, campuses, military installations or buildings with restricted access when you book.

Frequently asked questions
What is door-to-door car shipping?
The carrier picks the vehicle up at your address and delivers it to the destination address, or as close to each as a full-size car hauler can safely and legally get. Where a street is too narrow or restricted, the driver arranges a nearby meeting point such as a large parking lot.
How long does door-to-door shipping take?
A carrier is typically assigned within one to five business days of your first available pickup date for a standard vehicle. Transit then depends on distance: a day or two within a region, around a week coast to coast.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we assign must carry active cargo insurance, which we verify before pickup. Damage must be noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery for a claim to proceed.
What if the truck cannot reach my street?
Under our terms, if a location is not accessible to a commercial truck because of size, weight, safety or local regulations, you meet the carrier at a nearby alternative such as a public parking lot or a wide accessible street chosen by the driver. This is common in dense cities, gated communities and rural areas and does not change the price.
